# Reset teams and bans for a new season

> Disband every team and lift every active ban between seasons, and know what each reset keeps.

Between seasons, clear the last season's teams and bans in the **Danger zone** on **Settings**. Its two actions, **Disband teams** and **Lift active bans**, each affect everyone at once.

Neither action touches the schedule, the results, the rules or anyone's staff access.

## Before you start

* Each action needs its own access. See [How access works](/get-started/access).
* Lifting bans is optional: a ban with an expiry date ends by itself.

## Disband every team

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Settings">
    In the sidebar, select **Season** → **Settings**, and scroll to **Danger zone**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start">
    Beside **Disband all teams**, select **Disband teams** to open the **Disband all teams?** dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Type `disband teams` and select **Disband teams**. "All teams disbanded." confirms it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

After disbanding:

* Disbanding deletes every team and leaves every player without one. The Player Hub's Teams page stays empty until staff verify new teams.
* Player accounts, staff notes and bans stay.
* Every player must agree to the Terms of Participation again when they next join or create a team.
* Matches already on the schedule keep the teams' names and results.
* Intermission loses any teams chosen with **Choose teams manually**.

<Warning>
  Disbanding every team can't be undone. Captains must create their teams again, and staff must verify them again.
</Warning>

## Lift every active ban

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Settings">
    On **Settings**, scroll to **Danger zone**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start">
    Select **Lift active bans** to open the **Lift all active bans?** dialog.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Type `lift active bans` and select **Lift active bans**. "Ban list cleared." confirms it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

After lifting:

* Every ban in force ends, and those players can sign in again.
* Each ban stays in the player's **History** on **Players**, with their staff notes.
* A banned player with staff access gets it back when they next sign in.
* Players aren't put back on the teams the ban removed them from.

<Warning>
  Lifting every ban can't be undone. To ban someone again, ban them one at a time on **Players**.
</Warning>

## Start the new season

Then set up the new season as usual: open sign-ups, write or duplicate the rules, verify the new teams and plan the schedule.
