# Captain your team

> Share your invite code, set your team's name, colour and logo, submit it for verification, and manage players and captaincy.

As captain, you run your team from **My Team** on the Player Hub: bring players in, set its look, submit it for The Black Vale's staff to verify, and hand it over or close it. To open **My Team**, sign in and select your team card.

The player who creates a team is its captain. A captain's **My Team** page has two tabs: **Roster**, with your players, and **Settings**, with everything else. **Docs** beside the tabs opens this page.

## Before you start

* Create your team. See [Join or create a team](/players/join-or-create-a-team).

## What you can change at each status

Your team's status decides what you can change. When staff accept a team, it becomes verified.

| Status | Name, colour and logo | Captaincy |
| :- | :- | :- |
| **Building** | You can change them. | You can transfer it. |
| **Pending Review** | Locked. | Locked. |
| **Verified** | Locked. Staff can change the name and colour. To change the logo, ask staff to unverify the team, which puts it back to **Building**. | You can transfer it. |

At every status, players can join and leave, up to the team size limit the league sets, and you can remove them. The **Roster** tab shows the count, such as 4 / 10.

## Share your invite code

</Frame>

Players join with your invite code, shown under **Invite Code** at the top right of **My Team**.

1. Select the copy button beside the code. A tick shows it's copied.
2. Send the code to your players to enter on the Player Hub.

If the code reaches the wrong person, select the regenerate button beside it, then **Continue**. The old code stops working straight away, so send the new one to anyone still joining.

## Set your team's name, colour and logo

You can do this while your team is **Building**.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Settings">
    On **My Team**, select the **Settings** tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change the name or colour">
    Edit the **Team Name**: 3 to 15 characters, using letters, numbers and spaces. No two teams can share a name. Pick a new **Identity Colour**, or type its hex code, such as #C41E2A.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a logo">
    Select **Add Logo** and choose a PNG or JPEG of up to 5 MB. In **Crop your logo**, drag the square to move it or a corner to resize it, then select **Apply**.

    To replace a logo, select it and choose a new image.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Select **Save Changes**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Renaming your team gives it a new invite code, and the old code stops working. Send the new one to anyone still joining.
</Warning>

## Submit your team for verification

Staff can't put your team in a match until they verify it. Submit it when your roster is ready.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Submit">
    On the **Settings** tab, under **Verification**, select **Submit Roster**, then **Submit**.

    Your team's status becomes **Pending Review**, and its name, colour, logo and captaincy lock.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for staff">
    Staff either verify your team, making it **Verified**, or send it back to **Building** so you can change it and submit it again.
  </Step>
</Steps>

To make changes while you wait, select **Withdraw** on the **Settings** tab, then **Withdraw** again. Your team goes back to **Building**, and you can submit it again at any time.

## Remove a player

On the **Roster** tab, select **Remove** on the player's row, then **Remove** again. They're off your roster straight away.

A removed player can rejoin with your current invite code. To stop that, regenerate the code before you send it to anyone else.

## Transfer captaincy

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the new captain">
    On the **Settings** tab, under **Captaincy**, select **Transfer Captain**, then choose the player under **Promote to captain**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Transfer">
    Select **Transfer**. You stay on the roster as a regular player.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**Transfer Captain** stays greyed out until your team has another player. Only the new captain can transfer captaincy back to you.

## Leave or disband your team

* **Leave.** Select **Leave** on your own row of the **Roster** tab, or **Leave Team** on the **Settings** tab, then **Leave** in the dialog. Captaincy passes to the player who joined earliest. If you're the last player, leaving disbands the team.
* **Disband.** On the **Settings** tab, under **Danger Zone**, select **Disband**, then **Disband** again. This removes every player and deletes the team.

<Warning>
  Disbanding can't be undone. Your players would need a new team, and you'd need sign-ups to be open to create one.
</Warning>
